Panthers went to Ashington with only 13 players; Ashington kindly lent us 2 players.
Panthers started off slowly and it was 15 minutes before there was any score when Dan Coats got behind the Ashington defence and scored between the posts - Rhys Reynolds on kicking duty failed with the conversion. After some very good forward play second row Ancel created a penalty which Reynolds slotted home 5 minutes later. Inside centre Guy then drilled through the Ashington defence to score, converted by Reynolds. With about 5 minutes to go to half time Ashington kicked the ball high into the Panther’s half where Thomas Rossington caught it and ran it straight back into the Ashington half, jinked the defence and scored between posts - converted by Reynolds. Two minutes later after some good forwards play Jellis scored. After half time the Panthers went to sleep and Ashington scored 3 quick tries without converting any of them. Panthers got going again with captain JD Laws getting a try and on the verge of the whistle the forwards bundled over and prop Elliot Foster scored. This was another good game full of promise for the Panthers.
