Within 3 minutes of kick off Jason Hamilton ran in a fine try down the right wing putting down between the posts - converted by Rhys Reynolds. Although always in the West’s half it was not until the 22nd minute when after good forward play the ball came out to Hamilton on the right wing who stepped two defenders to score in the corner. Five minutes later full back John Hastings, showing a fine burst of speed, broke through for a try in the left corner. On the stroke of half time Hamilton once again cut through the defence to score his hat trick. Half time Panthers 22 West 0. Five minutes after re start Hastings scored again. West rallied with the addition of an extra player and ran in three tries in a row converting two of them. The Panthers struck back with a powerful drive from the back and prop Duncan Arnold putting the ball over the line - Rhys converted. The game finished with Hastings getting his hat trick.
